INTRODUCTION

The 2012-13 budget reflects the strategic and operating goals of the Board of Trustees. The Fountain Valley School District is committed to providing an environment of excellence in which all children are encouraged to develop their maximum potential. The learning environment must be an exciting, positive, safe place where children feel free to grow and develop. This requires a well-trained staff with a clear sense of their mission in working with our children. The District is committed to helping our children develop to their maximum potential.

About the District
The Fountain Valley School District covers an area 9 square miles in the cities of Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach. The District serves approximately 6,160 kindergarten through eighth grade students from portions of these communities.

The District is committed to providing the educational experiences that will enable each child to function as fully as possible in our democratic society. While recognizing that each student is an individual with unique capabilities, the District’s objective is to provide the foundation so that each student may become a self-sustaining and responsible citizen, aware of individual worth and respectful of the rights of others. The District attempts to achieve this objective by providing equal educational opportunities through programs and experiences designed to promote the academic, social, emotional and physical development of all students.

Educational Facilities
The District operates ten (10) school sites. All the buildings are modern, with classroom and supplemental educational areas designed to provide a comfortable environment for the instruction process. The buildings are located on sites which provide spacious areas for recreation and physical education.

All school facilities are valued community assets, used by the public for social, educational, business and recreational programs during and after school hours.

District offices and support services, such as printing and duplication, transportation, maintenance, warehouse, food services and the instructional media library are housed in two separate facilities.
