Continue to support the Fountain Valley Educational Foundation’s efforts to assist the District in fully funding instrumental music at all schools with an emphasis on hiring qualified certificated music teachers at the middle schools.
Support the implementation of the Visual and Performing Arts Board Policy as the District seeks ways to integrate arts education into the daily curriculum, resulting in increased student participation and community interest in the visual and performing arts.
Although there are no plans to offer an Option I CSR all-day Kindergarten program in 2008-09, the board remains interested in implementing this program, and requests staff to continue exploring the possibility of piloting all-day kindergarten in one or more schools in 2009-2010.
Support the ACE Legislative Committee, the Superintendent Parent Council and the Fountain Valley Educational Foundation by encouraging and promoting community involvement in public education issues by:
Allowing the use of district facilities;
Encouraging the use of the District web sites for promotion of such activities;
Adopting Resolutions which may be brought to the board by ACE or SPC;
Inviting board meeting presentations by ACE and SPC on relevant topics.
Gather input from staff, parents and community in evaluating the District’s current web site as to accessibility to critical information, user-friendliness and visual appeal and begin to update the website. (Note: In consideration of budgetary and time constraints, the timeline to accomplish this may take more than one year.)
Utilizing the CSBA Governance Handbook model, develop a procedural and information guide that will enable the board to better perform its responsibilities and provide guidelines for future trustees.
